This experience is offered only when the weather and sky conditions are suitable for true stargazing, ensuring every session delivers a memorable stargazing experience.

The session runs late, starting after our last regular Star Safari session. It is late because that is when the sky is at its best.

Unlike general stargazing experiences that may run regardless of cloud cover, Premium Stargazing operates only on clear nights when the sky allows uninterrupted observation. If conditions are not suitable for stargazing, the session will be cancelled, and you will receive a refund of the purchase price. You are there for the real thing: open skies, visible celestial detail, and the full depth of the night sky revealed.

Small Dedicated Groups

Sessions are deliberately kept small to provide a more personal, relaxed, and unhurried experience. With fewer participants, there is ample telescope time, space to ask questions, and the freedom to linger on objects of particular interest. The pace is unforced, allowing you to fully absorb what you are seeing rather than rushing from one target to the next.

The sessions are late and after our regular Star Safari sessions. This is because the best time for stargazing is late - well after sunset, when the air is more settled. We don't run a cloudy programme for these sessions as they are dedicated to stargazing only.

Away from urban light pollution, the night sky becomes rich and three-dimensional, with thousands of stars visible to the naked eye on clear nights. Even before using the telescopes, you’ll have time to simply look up, orient yourself, and appreciate the scale and beauty of the sky above. We host this at our observatory at Star Safari. We don't come to you because we want you to enjoy the night sky from the heart of the Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve, without your session being limited by light pollution from towns and neighbours.
